On our way to the hospital this morning, Kim and I saw a rainbow in the sky. She was so excited and "just knew" it would be a great day. During his morning check up, the doctor said that Dad could have solid foods and would get half of the staples removed today. The second set of staples would be removed tomorrow and he could go home! After the chicken and potatoes at lunch, he had a traditional Spanish dinner, Tortilla con jamon (basically an omelet with ham). I've never seen him more excited for chicken noodle soup either! You should have seen the look on his face when he realized it wasn't the rice water they've made him eat/drink the last 2 days! His roommate Antonio left this morning as well. He and his wife were so cute as they said goodbye, holding Kim and my hands, saying "guapas.. guapas" and "va en casa!" ("beautiful" and "going home!")
They already have a flight booked for Wednesday morning and are scheduled to land in LA around 2:30pm. With their suitcases exhausted from overuse and Dad becoming fluent in Spanish (not really, but you should ask him about the words he learned) they are excited to go home. Dad told his friend John yesterday that he is going to use a wet wipe to clean the floor and will kiss the ground as soon as he gets to LA! haha
Thank you so much for your prayers! Dad & Kim will be returning home very soon!
